About Us

Steps from Nature Center to Intracoastal public beach access

Educating and inspiring the next generation of naturalists!

We have educated, inspired, and trained hundreds of thousands of nature lovers and the next generation of naturalists. Our goal is to foster meaningful connections between humans and nature and awaken a profound appreciation for South Florida’s unique habitats and wildlife. We want to ensure this beautiful place we call home is nurtured with intention and ardent respect and, as such, conserved and protected for many generations to come.

We simply could not achieve our mission without the generosity of our donors, and there are many ways, big and small, you can make a difference today!

The Nature Center hosts both on- and off-site native wildlife presentations, hands-on explorations programs, and field excursions. Admission to our museum is free, including live animal exhibits, hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities, and exploration stations.

We love to host school groups at the nature center, where students can engage in a variety of unique, immersive learning opportunities. Our most popular programs include learning about Florida’s threatened habitats and species (e.g., sea turtles, manatees, reptiles, and birds), during which our resident “teaching” animals act as ambassadors for their wild counterparts.

Engaging with Our Community

The Hobe Sound Nature Center hosts a variety of special events to honor our community and Hobe Sound’s unique natural heritage. These events include our Spring Program Series, including guided tours of local terrestrial and coastal habitats and an engaging lecture series, featuring scientists and experts who study everything from sea turtle biology, to astronomy, to the race against invasive species. We also host seasonal, guided turtle walks and annual community events, including a junior anglers fishing clinic (Hook Kids on Fishing), our popular Creepy Creature Halloween event, an Earth Day celebration, summer camp programs, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, and both on- and off-site educational programs for children of all ages.
